Often referred to as girl push ups, it's commonly thought performing the exercise on your knees doesn't really provide much benefit. But new findings suggest they can be just as good as conventional push ups for building strength as long as you perform enough to feel exhausted.

Sets refers to how many times you will repeat a particular exercise for the set number of repetitions. For example, you do 12 squats and rest. Then you do another 12 squats, rest, and then another 12. You have now completed three sets of 12 reps.

Push ups don't target the biceps because it's what's known as a "pulling" muscle, while the triceps is a "pushing" muscle. You should do an equal number of pulling and pushing exercises to balance your upper body and increase the muscles in your arms.

Thirty sit ups will get you flat abs, as long as you combine them with other exercises like crunches, leg lifts and planks.

When it's all said and done, eating before a workout can actually increase your metabolism in the long run. In short, yes, it's feasible to work out on an empty stomach and get by just fine. Some people prefer it because they feel lighter, are more alert, and experience increased focus.
